The decline of sensor performance is actually related to the safety in the field of automobile design. With the emergence of advanced driving assistance system and various kinds of automatic driving, a variety of design forms have formed the performance focus, so the aging problem of sensor is particularly important. This year, the issue was also discussed at the automotive sensors conference.
Why is the sensor aging! First of all, there are many potential reasons for sensor system performance degradation. The sensors that are easy to wear mainly include the sensors used by windshield device, lighting device and other protective layer devices. Secondly, the pressure sensor, temperature sensor and vibration sensor are aging with time when the car works in harsh environment.
How to detect sensor aging? Although there are many techniques that can be used to design test methods to evaluate sensor aging, so far, no large-scale research has been carried out to determine the degree and speed of system aging. Therefore, the extent of the significant impact on the technical performance of fleet information security is unknown. It is generally believed that aging is neither sudden nor catastrophic, but more like the slow decline of ADAS performance. Nevertheless, it does need to be quantified. Some academic institutions take it as part of their research projects.
How to effectively reduce the aging of pressure sensor? It is assumed that the aging degree of the sensor has little effect. However, multiplying it by the number of ADAS vehicles on the road and multiplying it by the number of years of operation has an overall impact on the safety of the fleet, so automotive engineers need to mitigate this impact. This also shows that if an information system design can monitor the performance and warn the team leader of potential performance degradation, it has very important research value.
